Messi and Segovia Shine as Inter Miami Crush Red Bulls 5-1

Lionel Messi and Telasco Segovia led Inter Miami to a commanding 5-1 victory over the New York Red Bulls on Saturday night. Both players scored twice, with Messi also providing two assists in a dominant performance.

Messi continued his remarkable form, notching his sixth multi-goal game in his last seven appearances. His contributions placed him in the record books as just the fifth player in MLS history to register 35 goals and 25 assists over two seasons, joining legends like Robbie Keane, Sebastian Giovinco, Carlos Vela, and Cucho Hernandez.

The match turned in Miami’s favor midway through the first half. Messi’s pinpoint pass to Jordi Alba tied the game 1-1 in the 24th minute. Moments later, Messi floated a ball over the defense, allowing Segovia to net his first goal.

In the second half, Messi added to the scoreline with a clinical finish on a breakaway in the 60th minute. He followed that with a stunning left-footed volley in the 75th minute after chesting down a pass from Luis Suarez.

Inter Miami (12-4-5) has now beaten the Red Bulls convincingly in their last three encounters, including a 6-2 win in 2024 and a 4-1 victory earlier this year.
